Judges
Lyle Lad - MI
Lyle Lad is a very well-known name in the working sheepdog and trial world. Coming from Micosta, Michigan, she says she is now retired. She’s been training and handling working Border Collies for about 40 years now and her list of accomplishments is impressive. For about 35 of those years, she has been a professional trainer/handler, clinician, and instructor. Lyle has competed largely in the Midwest but has trialed successfully in venues throughout the country. She’s been a competitor at the Soldier Hollow Classic SDT, which is by invitation only; the Meeker Classic SDT; multiple USBCHA National Sheepdog Finals; the Bluegrass Classic SDT; and many other top trials. In 2012, Lyle and her home-bred Nursery entry, Lucky, were the USBCHA National Sheepdog Nursery Champions. She and her dog, Cap, accomplished something that has not been done in the Bluegrass Classic SDT except by one other handler/dog team – they won the Double Lift Final three years in a row (1998-2000). Lyle is also the only Woman handler to have won the Double-Lift Final at the Bluegrass. In 2011, Lyle was a member of TEAM USA and competed in the World Trial in Penrith, England with her outstanding dog, Shep. Watch for Lyle in the 2024 USBCHA National Sheepdog Finals with her dogs, Sweep and Carmen. Good luck, Lyle, and we look forward to welcoming you to Texas in November!
George Stambulic - Canada
George has been trialing for about 26 years. In 2005, he was a finalist at the USBCHA Finals. He was the 2015 Western Canadian Champion, 2019 CBCA Nursery Champion and 2022 Reserve CBCA Champion. George was also on the 2023 Canadian World Team competing in Ireland.

*New for 2024*  Non-members and Open & Nursery dogs without 5 Qualifying Runs (collectively “Non-Qualifiers”) will be allowed to compete in the State Finals in the Open and Nursery classes, but will not be eligible to become the TSDA State champion in either class. In addition, Open Class Non-Qualifiers will not be eligible to compete in the double lift final. To be eligible for the State Finals a dog competing in Open Ranch, Ranch and Novice Classes must compete in 5 TSDA trials (each trial a “Qualifying Run”) in its class during the year of the State Finals.  The Handler must be a paid member prior to going to the post to be considered a Qualifying Run and before the dog can earn Dog of the Year points. See TSDA Rules for more details.

A maximum of two (2) premiums per class per handler will be paid.

Payback is "after expenses" and based on the number of dogs to leave the post and TSDA guidelines.

Open:  25% - 1st round; 25% - 2nd round; 50% to Double Lift
All other classes:  30% - 1st round; 30% - 2nd round; 40% - Combined Score
