I live on my family farm of 1000 sheep and 80 suckler cows. I have a very big interest in breeding pedigree stock for other people (pure Limousine cattle and pure Beltex sheep). I started trialing when I was 15 years of age. I've been very lucky with the dogs that I have. My first proper dog was an 11-year-old bitch called “Sian” that my dad bought for me. She had won a lot of trials with her previous owner and she showed me all the little moves that you needed for trialing. We then went on to win BBC One Man and His Dog - Young Handler. Unfortunately, Sian had to retire after that. Then I had Moel Floss. Moel Floss was probably the best trial bitch I've ever had. We represented Wales 4 times . . . in the International and World Trial and Supreme Final. In 2019 we were very lucky to win the Welsh National sheepdog trial and become captain for Wales in the International. I currently run a pack of 8 dogs. In that pack we have: 1 Welsh national champion, 1 World trial qualifier, 1 International Sheepdog qualifier, 1 North Wales champion. I like to breed all my dogs myself now and see how they turn out. I've been very lucky to travel the world with border collies and made so many new friends.
Alison Holmes - TX
I think my first word was “Dog.” I have been an animal lover all of my life. I likely inherited that gene from my father’s side of the family, although my mother is wonderful with the critters. As a city kid, I built extended dog families from Legos. But I have always been country at heart. My husband, Herbert, and I traveled North America for a number of years, competing in USBCHA trials and conducting clinics. I started training dogs for the public and starting young dogs I got Chip in for training . . . a grandson of Battle’s Cap. Chip and I competed for about 3 years, making the top 10 in the National Nursery Finals at Klamath. After Chip moved to Open, one year I ran him at The Big One SDT in Bowman, South Dakota. I also made the top ten in the USBCHA Nursery Finals in later years with my very special Britt. But the dog that I likely learned the most about training with, was a male named Rys. He was a difficult kind of dog to train. We placed third in the first open go round at Carbondale one year, on very stiff sheep. We also won a Stockmanship award at Meeker. We had a wonderful time attending a lot of North American dog trials and more importantly, made lifelong friendships from this sport.

We are going to run all entries, including 3rd dogs and all who were on the waitlist.  Thank YOU!

Open 1 Handler's meeting will be at 715am on Wednesdsay, Feb 28th - 1st dog to the post at 730am.

Since the days are getting longer, we plan to run "long" on Wednesday and Thursday . . . likely until about 6pm or so.  We plan start a bit earlier in the mornings on all other days.  We will stop "earlier" on Friday (perhaps 430 -5pm), to allow folks to venture to town and to support the local restaurants for supper.  We will have a hard stop on Saturday at 4pm . . . to allow everyone to attend "A Night at the Museum" in San Saba's Mill Pond Park.  This event includes a TSDA focus and will have live music and a cowboy camp chuck wagon cook-out (chicken fried steak with all the fixins).  Tickets are $15 each at the door, or $10 in advance (purchase at most merchants in San Saba or at the San Saba visitor center).  A flyer is attached to this email.

The run orders should be out in the next day or so, and Ms Michal Bagley will be coordinating work assignments . . . Thank You, all, in advance for stepping up and helping to make this trial a success!  Our judge from Wales, Mr Arwyn Davies, is bringing "Grace" with him, who will be scribing during the Open and Nursery classes.  Mr Terry LePlatt will be expertly handling the set out duties.  So, Michal will be seeking scribes for Open Ranch (judged by Ms Alison Holmes), Course Directors, and likely some pen help.

Of course, once the last handler has left the post on Sunday, the breakdown begins, and your help to put things away and pack up will also be much appreciated.

2 field trials over 5 days offering Open, Open Ranch, & Nursery classes.  400+ yard outrun!

Volunteers appreciated - contact Michal Bagley michal@jmbagley.com  512-633-2584
