                                                                                                        Conference Call
The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Texas Sheep Dog Association was held May 15, 2020 via tele-conference.  President Jack Christensen called the meeting to order at 7:17pm.

Roll was called with the following Directors being present:  Lurena Bell, Jackie Bludworth, Bob Caruthers, Jack Christensen, Steve Drake, Bruce Hawn, Jeri Jessee, Keelee Page, Brent Phelps, and Vivian Christensen, Secretary.

The minutes from the prior meeting were approved.

The board of Directors had previously discussed at length the wording of the drop-down rules.   As a result, two versions of the proposed rules were created and briefly discussed at tonight’s meeting.  Version 5 of the proposed rules allowed both an Open and an Open Ranch dog to be dropped to Ranch class and then after advancing to Open Ranch class to earn the greater of 16 points or the remaining points necessary for the dog to point out of  Open Ranch class.  Version6, limited the number of points that an Open and an Open Ranch drop down dog could earn to 16 points in all classes.  A vote was taken on which version to present to the membership for review.  The board voted in favor of presenting Version 5 to the membership.  Voting in favor of Version 5 – Steve Drake, Jerri Jessee, Jackie Bludworth, Keelee Page, Lurena Bell, Bob Caruthers. Voting against Version 5 – Brent Phelps, Jack Christensen, and Bruce Hawn.  After the vote, Brent Phelps stated that he was adamantly opposed to Version 5 and particularly opposed to an Open dog being allowed to stay in Open Ranch class until it earned the greater of 16 points or remaining points necessary for the dog to point out of the class.  A motion was therefore made by Steve Drake to amend Version 5 to reflect that an Open Drop-Down dog would get 16 points in Ranch and 16 points Open Ranch before being required to move back to Open.    Lurena Bell seconded the motion.  All directors were in favor of amending Version 5.  A vote was not taken on whether or not all directors were then in favor of presenting amended Version 5 to the membership.   The amended version was circulated among the board with no further objections.   The secretary was requested to arrange for the posting of amended Version 5 (now version 7) on the website and otherwise circulating amended Version 5 for membership review.  A formal vote will not take place on the adoption of the new rules until they have been on the website for at least 48 hours.

Vivian brought up the concern that for the handler’s dinner it might be difficult to maintain proper social distancing if we have the dinner in the barn.  The Bowie Community center agreed to a discount on Friday night for the dinner.  We also have a benefactor who has graciously donated to the handler’s dinner.

There was no financial report for this meeting

There was no old business on the agenda.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 pm
