Conference Call
The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Texas Sheep Dog Association was held April 23, 2020 via conference call.  President Jack Christensen called the meeting to order at 7:11 pm.

Roll was called with the following being present:  Jackie Bludworth, Jack Christensen, Steve Drake, Bruce Hawn, Jeri Jessee, Keelee Page, Brent Phelps, and Vivian Christensen, Secretary/Treasurer.  Bruce Hawn and Keelee Page Lurena Bell and Bob Caruthers were absent.

The minutes from the prior meeting were approved.

Vivian – provided brief discussion regarding upcoming finals banquet. 

Jeri reported the following bank account numbers:  $14,088.97 in the Operating account, $18,048.47 in the Trial account and $13,078.78 in the Savings account.  A number of checks are still outstanding.  QuickBooks will updated and financial reports sent after the close of April.

Due to the dramatic reduction in the number of TSDA trials caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic the Board of Directors unanimously elected to suspend the eligibility requirement that a dog must have run in 5 TSDA trials for the 2020 State Finals trial.  The only requirement to run in the 2020 State Finals is that the handler be a current member of TSDA on or before July 1, 2020.  Nursery Age requirements shall remain unaffected.  The board reserves the right to limit the number entries in each class to two dogs per class should this suspension result in an excessive number of entries.

Work continues on the cleanup of the TSDA rules.  Once finalized, they will be uploaded to the website for member review, prior to final vote thereon .

The 2020 Finals will be held at the home of Chuck and Vicki Riley in Bowie. 

In consideration of the COVID-19 issue, Keelee presented data regarding the incidences of reported flu cases in October versus November (which doubled) in support of moving the date of the Finals up to sometime in the month of October.  Jeri also proposed that the weather might also be nicer (warmer and less chance of rain).  However, a majority of the Directors were not in favor of making a change.

Brent volunteered to be the Open Field Captain and has assembled his committee consisting of Ron Burkey and Dennis Edwards.  Tim Walker will be the Captain for the Lower Field.

As Lurena was not in attendance to report on the committees, it was suggested that perhaps she could email an update to the Board.

Ideas regarding the banquet and handler’s dinner were discussed.  The Hospitality Committee will be tasked with exploring the options and making a recommendation.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 pm.
