TSDA/TCDA Board of Directors Meeting from Oct. 29, 2019

TSDA Directors Meeting
October 29, 2019
Conference Call

The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Texas Sheep Dog Association was held October 29, 2019 via conference call.  President Jack Christensen called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Roll was called with the following being present:  Bob Caruthers, Jack Christensen, Vivian Christensen, Steve Drake, Jeri Jessee, Brent Phelps.  Bruce Hawn, Jo Spurger, and Lurena Bell were absent.
The minutes from the September 19 meeting were approved.

Vivian provided the Secretary’s report.  Online entry is working well on the handler’s side but needs some further work on the back side to aid the trial secretary.  Facility items such as heaters, tables and portable toilets have been ordered for the Finals.  Two extra tables had to be ordered to accommodate the demand for the banquet.  Vivian will look for appropriate thank you notes for the sponsors.

Jeri provided the financial report.  There were no questions on the September financials which had been previously distributed.  October will be sent at the end of this week.

Jack provided an update on the Finals preparations.  Faansie will be providing a map so that we know what areas are to be used for parking, etc and which areas are to be avoided.  The sheep have been secured.  Volunteers who can come on Wednesday to help with preparations are welcome.  Kudos were given to Steve Watson for securing the hay for the sheep as well as the John Deere gators and other items.  We will have an on-call veterinarian.  Brent has touched base with the set-out person and the judges.

The Board was asked to consider a request for an accommodation for a handler who needs assistance at the post.  The Board asked that the request be put in writing so that it will be clear as to exactly what is being asked and then it will be considered at the next meeting.

Due to rising costs in office supplies, primarily paper and ink, a motion was made to increase the TSDA Office fee by $.50 per run.  Motion passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
