John Lewis motioned that Allen's motion be amended as follows, seconded by E.B. Raley.

1. At the July 31 year end, dogs in all classes that have reached the point limit for their respective classes are required to move to the next higher class. Dogs that have not pointed out may continue to compete in their current class subject to the point requirements elaborated elsewhere in these rules.

2. Dogs moved up a class after July 31 must compete in the Finals in their new higher class (provided they meet the number of runs requirement before July 31 in their previous class).

3. Provided they meet the requirement for the number of runs, dogs eligible to complete in the Nursery class as of July 31 may compete in the Nursery class at the Finals and in the highest class in which they competed after July 31 (Open Ranch, provided they have not pointed out, or Open).

4. Dog of the Year points will not be awarded at the Finals. This amendment does not affect other awards that may be given for performances at the Finals.
