Thanks Koni !!!

A sheepdog embodies a uniquely spirited individual who is destined to endure beyond the boundaries of physical grace.  This premise becomes evident to anyone fortunate enough to share life with such a relentless yet calming soul.  Ours is a very special Border Collie named Koni (pronounced: koh-nee).

September 5, 1987 ~ Koni ~ December 14, 2001

Her serious but gentle working focus was exceeded only by her complete devotion to family, friends, and fun.  For over 14 years, Miss Koni’s whimsical presence seemed to renew hope and purpose in everyone she encountered.  Her truly splendid physique was itself a special gift, and her mastery of its diverse potential will forever serve in countless ways to amaze and delight new and dear old friends alike.  All who knew her, including the few sheep and goats that met her gaze, will recount Koni convincingly to others as the one who made life seem more like play.  She now herds in spirit, guiding loved ones along the right path.

To help honor and memorialize Miss Koni, her family proudly presents “THANKONI” gifts to groups of lucky sheepdogs.  For example, cash gifts were awarded to several participants at the TSDA February 2004 Sheepdog Trials held in San Antonio, Texas.  Names of the lucky sheepdogs were drawn at random throughout the day from a pool of eligible entrants.  These gifts were not based on skill or beauty, and were in addition to traditional TSDA prize money.  In general, to be eligible for the day’s drawings, each of the 50 sheepdogs had to face a few sheep in friendly competition at any point during the exciting day of trials.  These gifts happily celebrate their patience and perseverance.   Click Here for Photos.

These “THANKONI” gifts also emphasize that each dog is a winner simply for trying their best to please others.  Each gift is meant to remind good folks to give ample credit to their own special ones, those who tirelessly endeavor to create great memories and lasting joy while asking nothing in return, save Love.  In closing, whether or not you ever met our Koni, please find a peaceful moment every day to thank those like Koni in your life.
